News from Bargoed Chamber of Trade

06/01/2010 12:00:00

Bargoed Chamber of Trade has experienced a strong increase in its membership with some 63 businesses/organisations now enjoying the benefits of membership.

Last year saw the launch of a new website www.bargoed.org.uk allowing businesses to bring their products and services to the attention of the area they serve.

In addition to keeping its members updated by email Bargoed Chamber of Trade also provides the same service to non member businesses, clubs and societies and voluntary organisations through its personalised circulation list of almost 200 email addresses. To be included on the e-circulation list your business or organisation should email chamber@communityconnectwales.co.uk or make contact via the website.

The main aim of the Bargoed Chamber of Trade is to represent the businesses of the Greater Bargoed Area for the benefit of the business and commercial community of the Greater Bargoed Area. In this respect the Bargoed Chamber of Trade will work closely with all organisations and individuals to ensure that the needs of the community are served by the community.

The severe disruption caused in Bargoed through the town centre works linked to Angel Way and the ongoing regeneration works along with the current economic position has resulted in a very difficult time for the whole community.   Throughout this the Chamber has worked closely with the various agencies to ensure that all could be done to minimise the effects and to look positively to playing an active role in the regeneration of Bargoed.

Bargoed businesses are grateful for the support that they have received and now that the High Street is more accessible it is hoped that shoppers will increasingly support the businesses in Bargoed.

As well as looking forward the Chamber has had the opportunity to look back into its past. From records held at the National Library of Wales and in the archives at the Winding House New Tredegar the Chamber was in existence pre 1902. Items from the archives are regularly added to the website along with pictures and other news..

Bargoed Chamber of Trade meets on the second Mondays monthly at 6:30pm in the Capel Hotel Gilfach and for further in formation about the Chamber and its activities please visit the website www.bargoed.org or contact the Secretary Dave Collins c/o Messrs Fooks & Co, Accountants, 14 High St, Bargoed 01443 834047 chamber@fooks.co.uk
